In its most basic, chaos/disharmony is the trouble and order/harmony is the answer. A perception in Confucianism is that guy is basically good, but could be stunted through negative environmental influence or perhaps neglect, and therefore must be grown as a garden through routine and procedures about one's qi. Challenges inevitably occur in human life, nevertheless they themselves are competent of endorsing learning and growth. " A mistake can be not a ‘sin', but an opportunity to learn and do better following time” (Richey). The concept of Tian, or the supreme power that rules over substandard gods and over human beings, can be thought to be the original source of legit moral and political authority. " Tian does not speak -- it simply reveals through deeds and affairs" (Mengzi). Mengzi, a Confucian sage, attributes most of the virtues seen in Confucianism to Tian and explicitly even comes close the regulation of the moral king towards the rule of Tian. When human beings are not able to behave morally or put Tian's ethical will in practice, this does not convince Mengzi that Tian is poor or unethical. Moral failing and even wonderful evils will be reminders of how important people are in the moral scheme of the galaxy. Earthquakes become opportunities to study the meaningful dealings of the rulers; famines become pretexts for political dissent and even regime modify. " The dependence of Tian after human agents to put the will in to practice assists account for the emphasis Mengzi places on the satisfaction from the people while an indication of the ruler's moral right to power, and on the responsibility of morally-minded ministers to depose an unworthy ruler” (Richey).
