Witch-Hunts, Then and Now
Witch-Hunts, Then now is basically contrasting how witch-hunts were managed in the year 1692, in comparison to the McCarthy era prosecutions of suspected communists. I chose this theme because I possess always been thinking about learning what exactly happened in the Salem witch-hunts. I have often only heard stories in the hangings and they left me interested to find out more. I also have never heard of McCarthyism and exactly how it would relate to witch-hunts. Yet , after browsing and performing research for the two matters I can today compare the similarities. For these people that believed in the gods if perhaps for some reason that they failed at something or if anything bad happed to these people they believed that there was some wickedness going on that caused the gods to permit these hardships to land upon all of them. She was accused in the death of William Stacy's child, the death of Samuel Gray's child, and the illness of Samuel Shattuck's child. (Nelson 1997, s. 81) Throughout the McCarthyism time thousands of Americans were offender of being communists and were subjected to severe investigations and questioning by the government. Various...
