Jen Robert’s Classroom in the Cloud

19 May 2013

During a lively discussion of mobile learning on the University of San Diego campus this week I met Jen Roberts, an amazing high school English teacher. She is Google Certified Teacher, Digital Lead Teacher at Point Loma High School and adjunct faculty at USD teaching onsite and online.

“Done right a device in every hand should move us away from lecture based instruction and toward collaborative project based learning,” said Jen.

She has innovative way of engaging her students by having them publish blogs instead of turning in physical assignments and by having their students edit collaboratively and contributing to posts in Google Drive.

See Jen’s video Classroom in the Cloud that explains her way of teaching below. You can find her online and follow her work on her blog.

Following are three of her blogs that outline using Google Docs for writing:

Great free tools like Google Drive allow any teacher to turn students into journalists and bloggers.  As Jen’s teaching illustrates, digital learning contributes to deeper learning.
